Record Store Day at Skeletunes Records

We're proud to be an official participating Record Store Day store. Twice a year — every April and every Black Friday — we get to be part of one of the best days in music retail, and we take that seriously.

What Is Record Store Day?

Record Store Day is a semi-annual global celebration of independent record stores, held every April and every Black Friday in November. It brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores around the world Wikipedia, with hundreds of exclusive vinyl releases pressed in limited quantities and distributed only to participating indie stores.

The RSD website does not sell them. Amazon does not sell them. You have to show up in person — and that's exactly the point. Record Store Day exists to keep independent music retail alive, and every dollar spent on RSD goes directly to a local store, local staff, and a local music community.

The Rules (Read These First)

RSD has a strict code of conduct that all participating stores must follow, and we honor it fully. Here's what you need to know:

  1. No pre-orders or holds. Stores are not permitted to reserve a product for customers. Please don't ask — it's not something we're able to do for anyone, no exceptions. It's part of the pledge we sign to participate.
  2. First-come, first-served. All RSD titles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Arriving early is the only way to guarantee you get what you're after.
  3. One copy per title. To give as many people as possible a shot at the titles they want, we limit purchases to one copy per title per customer.
  4. Not every store carries every release. With over 500 releases for Record Store Day, it is almost impossible for a shop to carry every title. Inventory is determined by our ordering relationships with distributors. If you're hunting something specific, check in with us ahead of time and we'll let you know if we have it.
  5. No online sales of RSD titles on RSD day. All official Record Store Day sellers adhere to a strict code of conduct which prohibits selling online until the Monday following RSD. Any remaining stock will be available on our website after that window.

Understanding the Release Categories

Every RSD title falls into one of three categories:

E — Exclusive Release, made specifically for Record Store Day and the fastest to sell out. If a title is marked E, plan your morning around it.
L — Limited Run / Regional Focus, produced in limited quantities with some regional distribution variation
F — RSD First, world premiere releases hitting stores for the first time on RSD day.

Tips for a Great RSD Experience

Arrive early — for the most in-demand titles, lines can start well before doors open. Check the official release list at recordstoreday.com ahead of time and know your priorities going in. If you want something specific, make a list and focus on that first. And most importantly — be cool. Everyone there is there for the same reason.
