Originally released in 1993 on Peaceville Records, With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness is At the Gates' second studio album and is widely regarded as one of the band's most artistically ambitious works — blending highly complex melodic arrangements with a dark, brutal edge and slight black metal overtones, accented by poetic, philosophical lyrics. Recorded in April 1993 and produced by the band, it features a guest appearance by Matti Kärki of Dismember and marks the final album with guitarist Alf Svensson.
