Originally released in 1999 on Avantgarde Music, Satanica is Behemoth's fourth studio album and a decisive step toward the blackened death metal sound the band would fully embrace on Thelema.6 and beyond. Steeped in Thelemic and Kabbalistic symbolism, the album is denser, more ritualistic, and more technically precise than anything in their catalog to that point — produced by the band at Hertz Studio in Białystok, where they would record many of their landmark records.
