Deftones' debut studio album, originally released on October 3, 1995 on Maverick Records — recorded at The Plant Studios in Sausalito with producer Terry Date, who would go on to helm White Pony and Around the Fur. Eleven tracks of raw, aggressive alternative metal from Sacramento's finest, capturing Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Chi Cheng, Abe Cunningham, and Frank Delgado before their sound evolved into the more atmospheric territory they're now celebrated for. "7 Words" remains one of the most viscerally intense album openers of the era. Reissued on vinyl.
