Gerard Way's debut solo album, released on September 29, 2014 on Reprise Records — the My Chemical Romance frontman stepping out on his own with a record steeped in glam rock, Britpop, and shoegaze. Produced by Doug McKean at Axis Studios in North Hollywood and Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, TX, Hesitant Alien topped Alternative Press's "Ten Essential Albums of 2014" and earned praise for its richly layered guitar textures and Way's most melodically adventurous songwriting.
