Opeth's second studio album, originally released in June 1996 on Candlelight Records and recorded at Unisound Studio in Finspång, Sweden with producer Dan Swanö. Five sprawling compositions of progressive death metal — none under ten minutes — anchored by the 20-minute centerpiece "Black Rose Immortal" and the acoustic closer "To Bid You Farewell." This reissue has been lovingly remastered by Jens Bogren with guidance from Mikael Åkerfeldt, half-speed cut at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell, and features carefully restored artwork. Pressed on 140g silver vinyl.
